I Will Support Any Charity Whose Purpose is to Feed the Children

I have supported a number of charities in my life, as I have always felt that I was quite blessed with all that I had been given in life. There are some organizations that are nearer and dearer to my heart, however, and one type of charity that I always try to contribute to is one that makes it its goal to feed the children. I can think of nothing more necessary in the world, and I can think of nothing more sad than a child going to bed hungry, with no prospect of food in the near future.

One organization that I have always supported is one that is through my church called Cross International Outreach. What I love so much about this particular charity is its objective to feed the children, but not just for a day. It will allow a person to make donations that will buy people in other countries such things as cows, chickens and goats. These are things that can produce food in multiple ways for years to come and can be useful to have around for other reasons.

Another ministry that always sought to feed the children was the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, of which I was a member and served as the chapter president for six years. Whenever we had to make a food delivery to a family with children, I always made a motion to raise the spending limit we had agreed upon for each family. Needless to day, I always got a second and the vote passed almost unanimously. I remember on a number of occasions going to homes and handing out groceries and having little kids come up and hug me. That sort of thing really touches your heart.

Then there is Child Fund, formerly known as Christian Children's Fund. This is an organization which has worked to feed the children for decades, and has done so admirably. They have also gone places that many people are afraid to go in order to try to help out however they can. I always make it a point to donate whatever I can to this organization, because I know of all the good work they do to help out as many people as they can.

Friends have asked me about why such charities that feed the children are so important to me. The answer is quite simple, really. I truly believe in treating others how you would want to be treated. I think about my own children having to go hungry, and it is a thought I cannot stand. I will always support such organizations and do whatever I can to help.
