Choosing Your Own Fashion Style

We are all looking for new ways to express ourselves - so why not do it through our clothes? Fashions can be trendy or classic, and what you decide to wear can often depend on your own personal tastes and needs.

Many of us want to wear what is in fashion at any cost; not only in the present year but every single season: spring, summer, fall and winter. Those who view fashion in this manner are definitely trendy - and in some cases trend setters in their own rights!

On the other hand, there are those of us who prefer to collect timeless styles that can be worn from season to season, and year to year. Those who view fashion and style in this way are ones who appreciate classic styles that are everlasting.

So, how do you know if a fashion style, whether trendy or classic, suits you well?

Well, clothing is usually designed with different types of silhouettes and body frames in mind. Therefore, it is important to consider a few details about yourself before choosing a fashion style. Things to keep in mind are your height, weight and skin tone.

Every piece of fashion that you own, should be picked to match and put your best features forward, so you will you need to be aware of your body shape and colors that flatter your skin tone.

Your height and weight will determine the styles of clothes you will require to emphasize your favorite (and not so favorite) features of your body. Your skin tone will determine what color clothes you should choose. Keep in mind that color is very important and that it is directly connected to fashion styles as some designers create specific colors only.

Additionally, trendier colors will often be short-lived. Colors such as tangerine and chartreuse may be hot in the summer, but can disappear for good once fall arrives. Those classic fashionistas who opted to buy a tangerine tailored suit for the summer, just might find themselves with a quickly outdated tangerine suit come fall! So when choosing classic styles, it might be best to stick with classic colors such as white, black, grey and brown.

Most importantly, you must learn to be your own critic and friend in order to be able to choose the best fashion styles that will make you happy and comfortable thus, giving you your money’s worth. What good does it do to wear something that is the latest fashion but does not suit your style and personality?

So take time to experiment with different colors that make your skin glow, hide your height and weight flaws if that is a concern to you, and make you feel just fabulous! When you are able to express who you truly are, your clothes will be of second importance!
